Mauritius Market Watch | June 17th 2015: Mauritius equity market maintains positive momentum, SEMDEX 0.13% up, Market Cap adds MUR 275 million
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity market continued the positive momentum at the end of trading session. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) gained 0.13 percent or 2.48 points to close 1,975.82 points and the SEM10 surge by 0.31 percent or 1.18 points to end at 377.11 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 219.666 billion, by adding MUR 275 million (against MUR 219.391 billion recorded at previous trading day) and overall total volume trade recorded at 16.602 million (relative to MUR 1.339 million on previous trading session) and turnover amounted to MUR 74.843 million (compared to MUR 10.953 million recorded yesterday). The most active traded securities were SBM Holdings Limited with 13.776 million volume and turnover of MUR 12.812 million and CAUDAN Limited recorded 1.847 million traded securities with turnover of MUR 2.457 million. Equally, MCB GROUP had 190,388 traded stocks and turnover recorded at MUR 40.013 million and POLICY Limited Mauritius ended with a volume of 159,954.
The market sentiment was negative today, as the market breadth (advancer/decliners ratio) calculated at 0.71x with 4 price leaders and 6 price laggards. On the leaders list were MCB Group Mauritius rose 0.95 percent to close at MUR 211.50, Mauritius Development Investment Trust increased by 0.77 percent to settle at MUR 5.24 and POLICY climbed by 0.57 percent to end at MUR 7.04. Equally, UBP accelerated by 0.30 percent to trade at MUR 83.23. On the laggards, CAUDAN Limited and BLUELIFE Limited plunged by 4.32 percent (to close at MUR 1.33) and 4.00 percent (with closing price of MUR 4.80) respectively. Likewise, ENL Commercial Limited tumbled by 2.56 percent to close at MUR 20.95 and CIM Financial plummeted by 0.82 percent to close at MUR 9.66.
On the DEM counter, the DEMEX index plunged by 0.06 percent to close at 205.06 points and market capitalization of MUR 48.735 (a decrease of MUR 28 million relative to previous trading sessions of MUR 48.763 billion) and market turnover of MUR 2.290 million exchanged in 110,838 traded securities. There were two gainers and one loser , EUDCOS lost 3.33 percent to trade at MUR 14.50. However, MEDINE Limited added 0.40 percent to settle at MUR 63.25 and CONSTANCE Hotel Mauritius 0.14 percent with the closing price of MUR 36.05.
